Mosin Nagant PU sniper or Springfield 1903A4?

Serious question for those who own and or have fired both these rifles,
I'll make it easy - Which sniper rifle do you find to be better?

I know the PU scope is 1X more power and has a wider field of view than the 03A4's M73B1 plus the Mosin PU still offers the iron sights.

Anyone with experience on this? I want to use either rifle for hunting. I want a WWII sniper rifle to use this year

When these rifles were designed and built the term "Sniper" meant something completely different than what it means now. Back then it meant someone who accurately kill targets beyond the range that most soldiers usually fight at. These days, this refers to a designated marksman, while sniper is someone who not only relies on distance, but accuracy. A designated marksman will find a three inch group at 100 yards acceptable because it's still a kill shot while army snipers are trained to hit within a one inch group (FBI snipers are a 1/2 inch). Realistically, you're not going to be able to shoot the wings off a fly with either a Springfield or a Mosin Nagant.

Thus, the differences will be less in the model of rifle and more in the accuracy adjustments like glass bedding of the wood, the quality of the scope, and above all the ammunition. The .30-06 has been around forever so there are some INCREDIBLY specialized ammunition for it, while most ammo for 7.62x54R will either be junk military surplus or imported ammo of unknown quality. On the other hand if your Springfield is some old world war one thing with the barrel shot out, you're not going to get much accuracy out of it regardless of what ammo you use.

For regular hunting I'd go with the Mosin Nagant, as you wont care about pick-which-eyeball-to-hit-on-a-deer accuracy and you won't feel so bad if you drop it on a bunch of rocks while out in the woods.
