What can I view this time of year with my Orion Space Probe?

I have a small Orion Space Probe that I bought for $100. I live in Louisiana. What can I view this time of year. I have seen the moon, a few stars and Jupiter. But what is something that will just make me drop my jaw and say wow? I know you can't see much with this scope, but there has to be a few jaw dropping things. And Im not trying to be mean, but GeoffG, please, if you answer, do not give me any more mean answers, like you have previously, telling me that I should throw my scope away, that its nothing but junk. That Im, an idiot for not listening to you and buying what you told me to. Im trying to work with what I have. Please help guys!

Sorry if I sounded mean, but I sometimes get exasperated when I take the trouble to give a detailed answer, and it seems like my advice is ignored.

Here are some deep sky objects which will look good in your scope. The most reliably good DSOs are the objects in Messier's catalog. At this time of year, some of the best are M45 (the Pleiades), M31 (the Andromeda Galaxy, and M2 and M15, both globular clusters. Of the non-Messier objects, the best at this time of year are the Double Cluster in Perseus (NGC 869 & 884) and the ET Cluster in Cassiopeia (NGC 457). If you've ever seen the movie E.T., you'll see why this cluster got this name. Those are my favourite showpieces. You may be disappointed at first the the globulars and the Andromeda Galaxy, but spend some time with them using different eyepieces. M45, M31, the Double Cluster, and ET are guaranteed to drop your jaw...low power is best.

You'll probably need a star atlas to find these. My favourite (and also one of the cheapest) is the Sky & Telescope Pocket Sky Atlas.

[Edit] Lots of good suggestions here. You may be confused: the ET Cluster and the Owl Cluster are the same object. Some think it looks like an owl, some think E.T. My crazy friends in Australia call the Pleiades "the Shopping Cart," but then they're looking at it upside down!
