scope statement samples Questions

limiting the scope of the Fifth Amendment Self-Incrimination Clause?

I really need this answered:
Are the courts correct in limiting the scope of the Fifth Amendment Self-Incrimination Clause to verbal statements so that there is no constitutional protection against compulsory police identification procedures? What would be the implications for law enforcement if the courts included physical evidence like fingerprints or handwriting samples within the scope of the Fifth Amendment privilege?

The fifth amendment provides that no person shall be compelled to be a witness against himself in a criminal case. The Court's haven't limited that. By the plain language it only prohibits requiring someone to take the witness stand and provide testimony in court. Instead, the courts have expanded the fifth to include all sort of involuntary "testimonial" information such as statements to cops. They have not expanded it even further because there is nothing testimonial about one's fingerprints or DNA.
